Dr S.V.Rama Rao, M.V.Sc, Ph.D, Principal Scientist (Nutrition)

Dr. Rama Rao obtained his doctoral degree in Poultry Science from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University. His area of interest is mineral nutrition specifically to enhance phytate phosphorus utilization through nutritional approaches, nutritional modulation for better performance and immune competence in chicken. He also worked to find out alternate feed ingredients for maize and soybean in chicken diet. He got several recognitions from various organizations like ICAR Young Scientist Award, ICAR Award for Team Research, CLFMA Award, gold medals in University etc. Team lead by Dr Rao bagged best research abstract and research paper from National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Indian Poultry Science Association.

Dr. M.V.L.N. Raju, M.V.Sc., Ph.D, Principal Scientist (Nutrition)

Dr. MVLN Raju, Pr. ScientistDr Raju obtained his doctoral degree in Poultry Science from University of Agri. Sciences, Bangalore, India. His research interests include mycotoxins and other feed toxins, broiler breeder nutrition and feed additives for enhancing performance of chicken. Dr Raju received best poster award in World’s Poultry Congress 1996, New Delhi; IPSA Kerala chapter award for poultry nutrition (2003, 2004, 2005), Dabur Ayurvet Award (2005) and University Gold Medals.

Dr. B.L.N. Reddy, M.V.Sc., Ph.D, Principal Scientist (Genetics and Breeding)

Dr Reddy obtained his doctoral degree in Poultry Science from IVRI, Izatnagar, India. His research interests include breeding and genetic improvement of broiler and naked neck and dwarf gene lines and immunogenetics for disease resistance.

Dr. Anand Laxmi, Ph.D., Principal Scientist (Physiology)

She obtained Post Graduate degree in Life Sciences  from University of Hyderabad , Hyderabad, India (1985) . Later on doctorate degree in 1990 from the same university with specialization in Endocrinology and Reproductive Physiology. Throughout her educational career she obtained First Class. She joined as scientist at National Dairy Research Institute , Karnal, Haryana, India, affiliated to Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, India, in 1993. In the initial stages she worked on production and purification of second antibody which was widely used in the institutes for enzyme immunoassay studies. She also assisted in standardization of hormones by Elisa technique in cattle and buffaloes. Technique was used to measure the level of reproductive hormones during reproductive cycle of buffaloes and also to know the problems associated with the reproduction. She was awarded P G Nair award. She has authored two manuals on Laboratory techniques for PG students, also three books in hindi on reproduction aspects in buffaloes and beneficial effect of probiotics.  She was also Project investigator of the external funded project funded by Department of Biotechnology. At this institute she guided several Msc and Ph D. students. Later on in December 2015, she joined Directorate of Poultry Research, as a Principal scientist. She worked on effect of heat stress in native and improved variety of chicken and its amelioration by supplementation of fermented yeast culture. Now at present she is working on differential level of hormones at different phases of laying cycle and their modulation by trace mineral organic selenium in native chickens of India. She received awards for best oral and poster presentations.

Dr. Shyam Sundar Paul, Ph.D., Principal Scientist (Nutrition)  

Dr. Paul obtained his doctoral degree in Animal Nutrition from Indian Veterinary Research Institute. His research interests include deep profiling of chicken gut microbiome and modulation of gut microbiota of chicken for improving productivity and gut health. Dr. Paul received Jawaharlal Nehru Award, Dr. K Pradhan Young Scientist Award, best oral paper awards and DBT CREST Award.

Dr. M.R.Reddy, M.V.Sc., Ph.D, MACVS, Principal Scientist (Avian Diseases)

Dr Reddy obtained his Ph.D. in avian health from Melbourne University, Australia. He is a member of Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Avian Health (poultry). His research interests include avian disease diagnosis and control, avian tumour viruses, immunomodulation and immunosuppressive diseases.
