Input Distribution Programme Conducted for SC Families in Cuddalore District, TamilNadu on 11th January, 2026
The Directorate organized an Input Distribution Programme under the DAPSC scheme on 11 January 2026 at Karuppur village, Komaratchi Block, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu, for the benefit of Scheduled Caste (SC) families. Dr. A. Kannan and Dr. M. Shanmugam, Principal Scientists of the Institute, participated in the programme and created awareness on scientific backyard poultry rearing practices. The programme focused on practical aspects of feeding, housing, and healthcare management of backyard poultry. The scientists also emphasized the nutritional significance of regular consumption of eggs and chicken meat for enhancing nutritional security and immunity among rural households.
As part of the programme, 150 temporary night shelters were distributed to 150 identified SC families to support and promote backyard poultry rearing activities. The programme witnessed active participation from panchayat officials and village elders, reflecting strong community involvement. The input distribution programme was coordinated by Dr. M. Shanmugam.
