Input Distribution Programme Conducted for SC Families at Thandarai Puducherry and Vedanthangal villages in Chengalpattu District, TamilNadu on 12th January, 2026
The Directorate organized two Input Distribution Programmes under the DAPSC scheme on 12 January 2026 at Thandarai Puducherry and Vedanthangal villages, Maduranthakam Taluk, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, for the benefit of Scheduled Caste (SC) families. Dr. A. Kannan and Dr. M. Shanmugam, Principal Scientists, along with Shri Asif Mohammed, Finance and Accounts Officer of the Institute, participated in the programme and sensitized the beneficiaries on scientific methods of backyard poultry rearing, with special emphasis on practical feeding strategies, brooding, and effective health-care management. They also highlighted the nutritional value of regular consumption of eggs and chicken meat in enhancing nutritional security and strengthening immunity among rural households. As part of the programme, temporary night shelters were distributed to 100 identified SC families, with 50 beneficiaries each from Thandarai Puducherry and Vedanthangal villages, to support and promote backyard poultry rearing activities. Panchayat officials and village elders actively participated in the event and appreciated the effects of the Directorate.
