National Science Day 2026 celebrated at ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad
ICAR–Directorate of Poultry Research (ICAR-DPR) celebrated National Science Day 2026 on 28 February 2026, in alignment with the national theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat”. As part of the celebrations, an exhibition hall showcasing advanced poultry technologies was inaugurated by the Director, highlighting recent innovations and research achievements in the poultry sector. The programme was chaired by Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR.
Dr. S. S. Paul, Head, PNHP Division, introduced the theme of National Science Day. He highlighted the significant contributions of eminent women scientists of India through their scientific innovations. He also explained the role of science in day-to-day life and emphasised the importance of emerging technologies for human development.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director urged staff and students to contribute meaningfully towards the scientific development of the nation. He encouraged young researchers to pursue advanced research in poultry science for the benefit of the farming community and strongly advocated for women to take a leading role in scientific research to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Scientists, staff members, and students of the Directorate actively participated in the National Science Day celebrations. The programme was coordinated by Dr. K. S. Rajaravindra, Dr. M. Shanmugam, and Dr. S. Jayakumar, Principal Scientists of the Directorate.
