The ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research (ICAR-DPR), Hyderabad celebrated World Intellectual Property Day on 29th April 2025 with an informative session on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and the signing of a key Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support farmer development. Mr. Subhajit Saha, Head – Legal & IPR, Resolute Group of Companies and Resolute4IP, delivered an engaging talk highlighting the importance of IPR in protecting innovations in agriculture. He also explained the various forms of intellectual property protection.
Dr. R. N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR, chaired the session and spoke about the growing relevance of intellectual property in agricultural research. He encouraged scientists and stakeholders to use IP protection to promote innovation, gain recognition, and ensure that research outcomes benefit farmers effectively. To mark the occasion, ICAR-DPR signed an MoU with Dasohi Poultry Farmer Producer Company Ltd. (DPFPCL), Bijapur, Karnataka. This collaboration will focus on joint research initiatives and capacity-building programs, particularly in backyard poultry farming, aimed at enhancing the skills of DPFPCL personnel. About 75 participants, including staff and students from ICAR-DPR and the College of Veterinary Science, Hyderabad, actively took part in the program. Staff from the Regional Station, Bhubaneswar, also joined the program virtually. The event was coordinated by Dr. M. R. Reddy, Principal Scientist and Incharge, ITMU.
