A two-day training programme on “Differential diagnosis and control of oncogenic viral diseases of poultry” was held at the ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research (DPR), Hyderabad, during 6-7 March 2025. The training was sponsored by ICAR-All India Network Project on Challenging and Emerging Diseases of Animals (AINP-CEDA) and aimed at enhancing the skills of Scheduled Caste (SC) professionals working in ICAR Institutes, Agricultural Universities, and Colleges. A total of 11 participants from three states attended the programme. The training covered important topics such as the current status of virus-induced tumors in poultry, pathogenesis and diagnosis of Marek’s Disease (MD), Avian Leucosis Virus (ALV), and Reticuloendotheliosis Virus (REV). The participants also received training on the molecular detection and differentiation of MDV (pathotypes), ALV (subgroups), and REV, along with strategies to control these viral diseases. The programme was led by Dr. M. R. Reddy, Principal Scientist, as the Course Director, with Dr. T. R. Kannaki, Principal Scientist, and Dr. Vijay Kumar, Senior Scientist, serving as Course Coordinators. The participants appreciated the valuable insights and practical knowledge gained during the training.
