Work Experience
Dr S V Rama Rao has a Ph D degree in Poultry Science with few meritorious Gold Medals during his academics. Based on extensive research work, he recommended optimum requirements of calcium and phosphorus for broilers and egg layers which were widely accepted by poultry farmers in our country. He is involved in both applied research and extension activities for commercial and backyard poultry farmers. The scientist involved in the popularization of few nutritional solutions developed by their team to reduce feed the cost, optimize major, minor nutrients allowances for commercial broilers and layers. Found alternate feed ingredients for maize and soybean meals and established optimum safe levels of their inclusion in poultry diets. Few findings of the scientist are being adopted by poultry farmers across the country and got direct benefit by reducing the cost of feed, optimization of raw material usage, and minimizing excretion of nutrients into the environment. Optimization of Ca and P levels, use of phytase in poultry diets, utilization of cotton seed meal, til cake and guar meal are few of his contributions to the poultry farmers. The scientist has published more than 250 research articles in peer reviewed journals, 128 popular articles and 7 books.
