Input distribution programme at Pazhayanur (Chengalpattu District, TN) and Nalamputhur (Cuddalore District, TN) villages under DAPSC programme

ICAR-DPR has been implementing the DAPSC programme in different villages of Tamil Nadu for the past two years to improve the livelihood of SC farmers. Input distribution and on-field training programmes were held at Pazhayanur village (Chengalpattu District) on 29th February 2024 and Nalamputhur (Cuddalore District) on 1st March 2024. In both villages, the DAPSC scheme was explained to the beneficiaries (SC farmers), and they received brief training on rearing poultry birds under backyard farming. Additionally, practical tips on feeding and health care management of birds were provided. To properly safeguard birds during the night from predatory attacks and the cold climate, the Directorate distributed 200 night shelters (100 in each village) to 200 SC families. Dr. M. Shanmugam, Senior Scientist, coordinated the programme. The programme was attended by elected representatives and farmers of both the villages.
