Kisan Diwas celebrated at DPR, Hyderabad on 23rd December 2020
ICAR-DPR, Hyderabad celebrated Kisan Diwas (Farmer’s Day) on 23rd December 2020 as a part of the action plan for Swachhata Pakhwada (16th-31st December 2020). Kisan Diwas is celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the 5th Prime Minister of India, Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh. A total of 40 farmers from Bavoji Thanda, a tribal hamlet in Balanagar Mandal of Mehboobnagar district in Telangana participated in the programme. Dr. R.N. Chatterjee encouraged the farmers to continue their good work and look for avenues for sustainable farming by including poultry component in their farms. He stressed that poultry is good entrepreneurship for rural youth and women. He opined that women SHGs can take an active part in poultry farming and benefit from this business. Dr. S.V. Rama Rao, Pr. Sci. briefed the farmers about the various novel methods for enhancing productivity in chicken. Dr. M.R. Reddy, Pr. Sci., Dr. U. Rajkumar, Pr. Sci and Dr. B. Prakash elaborated the farmers on Poultry breeds/varieties, disease management and nutritional management, respectively. The farmers were felicitated during this occasion for their continuous support to this directorate. Farmers participated in the event with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Dr. Vijay Kumar, Sr. Sci.
