Backyard poultry has emerged as a crucial tool for improving the economic and nutritional security of marginalised populations. Backyard poultry generates additional revenue rapidly with modest inputs by the sale of eggs or birds and offers rural households access to high-quality animal protein i.e. eggs, and meat. Under the DAPSC Scheme, the Directorate has launched backyard poultry training and inputs distribution in several villages of Kottapalle Mandal, Old Adilabad district (new Mancherial district). As part of the scheme, on 29th December 2021, an on-field training programme was organised for the 100 SC families of the Shankarpur village regarding general management, feeding and health care management of backyard poultry. A baseline survey of the beneficiaries was also done.  An exhibition was organised for school children to create awareness about the importance of eggs and meat. About 80 School children visited the exhibition. To promote backyard poultry farming, a total of  492 Gramapriya grower birds,  100 temporary night shelters, 100 feeders and 100 night shelters were also distributed to 100 SC families.
